End of Term 2

Wow, can you believe we are almost at the end of Term 2. Well done to everyone for how brilliant you have all been.
Still a way to go, though! Tomorrow we have the Court Theatre Jesters in school to perform for us and as a finale to our topic, we have a movie to watch in the afternoon.
We are also having our end of Term assembly on Friday. It will be a low key affair....especially with children (and staff) in their pjs or with wacky hair! As space is very tight and it will be standing room only, we would like to invite just the parents of those children receiving awards. (you will have or can expect a call to notify you if necessary).
The children have also been asked to donate a can of food for needy families of Christchurch rather than bring in a gold coin for Friday.
Remember Katie is also here for lunch orders on Friday.

Redcliffs on Sea

Wow, can you believe we are at the last week of this term!
You should all feel very proud of yourselves this term, despite exciting events and a move to Sumner, you have all shown so much progress in your reading, writing and maths. I am so very proud to be your teacher.
Last week we had a fun filled time in Sumner, the teachers want you all to enjoy the changes you have been so brilliantly accepting.

The Court Theatre
On Wednesday we were lucky to be visited by two actors from the court theatre who amazed and entertained us with their comedy and ability to tell a story with no costume or props!

Beanie babes!

Great excitement in class today with the delivery of handmade beanies for every child in school. Wonderful knitters from around the country and in Australia have been busy ensuring that our children stay warm and cosy over winter.

Cosy Toes!

As you know we are working hard at keeping our new space clean. If you would like to bring a pair of snuggly slippers to school to wear in class, that would be cool!
We now have 13 children back in class and as space is a little tight, I am removing name labels off tables. We spend so much of our time working around the classroom, rather than all sat our desks. I will have a box handy for sneaky snacks and a one for book bags. Drinks bottle can still sit on the desks and we shall solve the problem of personal items tomorrow. At least there will be no more horror stories hiding within the desks...old bananas, paper or 100 snack boxes!

The all new Room 15/16

Rooms 15 and 16 made an amazing start to the next few weeks at Sumner, you should be very proud of the way you have taken this change in your stride. I have especially loved seeing the sea of red and blue/green t-shirts mixing it up on the playground and field each day.

We also had assembly time with Team 3. The whole of Room 15 got a Caught in the Act for their amazing attitude this week.

Sensational Sumner!

Wow,
what a day! It was so wonderful to see so many of you back in school today. It was a super start to the day with our school assembly too.
We had a full fun packed day after the assembly. First we had a tour around the school grounds including the junior playground. We then started out reading before morning tea. It was amazing to see such a mix of red and blue t-shirts our on the field together.
We then had phonics, reading and writing before lunch!
We had a go at writing sentences with alliteration to use in poetry. Here are just a few:

Terrific Thomas tickled tigers.
Marvellous Maija munched marshmallows.
Jolly Jorja jumped over jellies.
Cheeky Charlie chased chocolate.

Please ensure that children know if they going on the bus and which stop they are going to as buses go to one or the other. Rooms 15,16 and 17 have a system of walking to the buses together with 2 teachers. Children being collected by parents will wait in Room 15/16 with another teacher.

Hi all.
I hope you all had a great day today, wherever you were, the Hub or at home.
Your teachers all had a very busy day today moving in to our new temporary classrooms at Sumner. The Sumner school are all very excited to be welcoming us too. Parents remember you are invited for coffee at 9:15 in the new hall foyer.
We have taken lots of things from our room to make it feel more like home.

I am sure we will have an amazing time with our friends in Room 16 and the lovely Mrs Key.
Please remember to bring a full water bottle for the day.
